Camino de Santiago
Camino de Santiago

The Camino de Santiago to the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostel was a popular pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. Many start at Roncesvalles, France, or Jaca, Spain, for an 800 km trek. However, one can also officially complete the pilgrimage by starting at Ponferrada, Spain, for an 200 km trip. Most walk, but about 15% cycle. By biking, one can complete the pilgrimage in a few days.

Renting Bikes
I have found it is much easier to rent a bike for a few days then to travel with one.
Bike Iberia will deliver bikes to Ponferrada and pick them up in Santiago de Compostel.
Bicigreen rents bikes from Burgos if you are looking for a longer ride.
Getting There
Fly in Asturias (OVD) and travel to Ponferrada. This may be faster and cheaper than flying into Madrid and take the train to Ponferrada. If you are transporting a bicyle, review the policies for bikes on Spanish trains here. Fly from Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ). A bus or train ride between Santiago de Compostela and Ponferrada is almost four hours.
